Are You Making the Most of the Cloud?

Last updated on April 4, 2024 By Abhijith V M Leave a Comment

While it might seem new, the cloud has long surpassed the point of being an established technology in business. Its incredibly versatile utility means that it can be applied in any number of areas and often in a way that is advantageous to on-premises alternatives.

With that in mind, your attention might turn to the way that your brand is currently making use of the cloud in your own operations. You might feel as though you’re doing everything that you can with it, but it could equally be that you haven’t made yourself aware of just how many possibilities there are.

Table of Contents

  • Staying Safe
  • Development
  • Video Content

Staying Safe

The ways that you’re already using the cloud might extend to your storage – ensuring that you back up everything you can in the cloud to reduce the risk of data loss, simultaneously making your data more easily retrievable. Additionally, you might be using cloud document platforms like OneDrive or Google Docs that can easily allow for collaboration between your employees in a flexible working environment.

What you might not immediately think of could be your security systems. While you probably have business security in place, you might not be aware of how the cloud could potentially improve these systems. Cloud security systems are able to check for vulnerabilities in your defenses, applying the appropriate improvements in real time and allowing you to operate in peace of mind, confident in your brand’s ability to keep up with digital threats.

Development

There are different types of development that take place across different industries. Some will be more universal, such as web or app development that a multitude of different businesses will consider at one point or another, but you also have software development that is more likely to be restricted to certain fields. The cloud is useful in either of these circumstances.

In web development, if you’re looking to implement APIs into your platform, the cloud can be used to help these gateways be more efficient regardless of the traffic that you might be facing. Understanding how you should design your own platform might mean understanding whether you should opt for control plane vs data plane. In software development, the cloud can be used to increase accessibility to the software – letting you update it in the same way as the previous example of cloud security.

Video Content

While some businesses are going to have video content as something that’s very core to the service they provide, others will look to it as simply an extension of their marketing campaigns. In either of these cases, using the cloud can help you cut down on a lot of the downtime that might normally occur during video production. Data storage might be nothing new as far as the cloud is concerned, but using flexible data storage to increase your efficiency demonstrates that you’re making the most of the cloud as a tool. Being able to have some of your team upload their video as its shot can allow you to then stream it and provide feedback or immediately begin editing.
