How To Fix Error Code 43 And 50 On Mac

It’s a widespread thing when you are working on Mac, and suddenly you experience and see error codes like 43 and 50. Now at that time, any normal person will get worried and start to panic about how he/she will work now. But you don’t have to worry, because every technical problem has a solution, and so the error codes.

Error Code 43

This error occurs when your device is unable to locate the file in question and hence fails to complete the action that is requested, like copying the file, moving it to trash, or even moving it to a different folder. The error 43 occurs mainly when you : 

  • Add a special character to the file name 
  • Trying to move the file that is already in use
  • Moving or deleting the file that is not downloaded properly
  • Hard drive problems in your Mac, and because of it, the error is coming, and the drive is unable to locate the file. 

Error Code 50

Many times when you use your Mac for usual daily work, a pop-up shows up saying that “The operation can not be completed.” This unexpected error is Code 50. Now troubleshooting this error can be a tedious task, and you will get confused about what is going on with your Mac. There are plenty of reasons because of which this error message occurs, and they are: 

  • Inappropriate operations on the process,  system, application, or service
  • Misconfigured system settings and Corrupted system directories and files
  • Suspicious file download, Virus infection, spyware attacks, or malware
  • Inappropriate or not updated software/hardware that is installed on the machine
  • Junk files complete with the current user’s home directory or startup drive

Fix error 43 on Mac

There are ways you can try to fix it. 

  • A few times, when your Finder doesn’t respond, then you get this error, and for this, you can force quit the Finder. 
  • You need to click on the Apple menu that is present in the top left corner of the screen and choose Force Quit.
  • Then a pop-up will appear in the “Force Quit” window, now choose the Finder and click on Relaunch. 
  • In case you notice that another app is using your file, then force quit that one as well.

  • To check if your disk has an error, run Disk Utility and repair the volume if you find it necessary. 
  • Now open Finder to search this built-in Mac app, then navigate to 

Applications >Utilities and check Disk Utility there. 

  • Now open the App, and on First Aid Button, click at the top right of the App. 
  • And now click Run instantly to analyze your volume for errors. 

As the process we have mentioned will take a lot of time, make sure that you have time in hand and take a break until Data Utility does the analysis and repairs. After you click the Run, then the warning occurs that projects that the process can take several minutes to hours. 

Fix error 50 on Mac when deleting or moving files

  • You can even try to eject your drive, following by unplugging it. 
  • Now reboot your system, and then try to plug your drive in again. 
  • Try managing the file on it when it mounts. 
  • One quick solution is, try to rename the file you are trying to delete or move. Assign a general name to it, such as “myfile.txt,” and confirm that you wish to modify the file extension. 
  • Then try to move or delete the file with the help of the OS X Finder.
  • The Finder moves files that are commanded by Terminal with the help of more checks and limitations, so you may have better luck in moving or deleting the file.
