What is ANT radio service? Do I need it?

Last updated on April 7, 2020 By Abhijith V M Leave a Comment

In this growing world of technology, we all are using ANT radio services to track our daily services. This service is used by our IoT devices to communicate with the smartphone and transfer real-time data to the application. Believe it or not but every smartphone has some kind of built-in ANT communication hardware that is activated as soon as you connect any fitness tracker or an external data-tracking device to your phone. Once the device is connected a system process starts which will show up as ANT radio service.

So, what is the ANT radio service?

ANT radio services is an internal system application that is pre-installed by the manufacturer and operates the ANT communication hardware. You can also understand it like this, as we have built-in NFC and WI-FI hardware in our smartphone which is operated with pre-installed firmware, the ANt radio service is also firmware for ANT hardware.

Sometimes while scrolling through your live system processes you may encounter some useless internal apps running. You would like to kill them or disable them but you are confused about the ANT radio service and you think.

Do you need the ANT radio service?

First of all, I would like to make it clear that ANT radio service does not affect your carrier signal in any way.

Secondly, it will depend on the type of device connected to your phone. If you have connected a fitness device or a smartwatch with your phone then you will have some problem while reconnecting it. Therefore, it is recommended that you don’t disable this process.

If you don’t have any IoT device connected to your phone or you don’t plan to connect one in the future then you can safely disable the system process. You will need to enable this process if you connect any real-time tracking device in the future for proper functioning.

In case your manufacturer does not provide you the ANT radio service pre-installed then you can use Google Play Store to install this essential service. In addition to this, you don’t have to update this service manually as Google will automatically update this app while updating its Google Playstore libraries.

Coming towards the conclusion, ANT radio service is an essential service to connect your tracking devices and other ANT compatible products with your smartphone and enable communication and transfer of fitness, sports, and health data to your phone.

Hope this short educational post will help you get more clarity about ANT services. Keep visiting for more helpful information.
