How To Fix “Restricted Access Changed. Data Services Blocked.” Issue

Last updated on April 12, 2020 By Abhijith V M Leave a Comment

Restricted Access Changed. Data Services Blocked.

On a daily basis, there are a lot of service notifications which flash on one’s Android mobile phone but what happens is that these notifications come and go. But then there are some notifications which don’t go easily or come back again and again.

So, in this post, I am going to talk of one such notification known as the ‘restricted access notification’.

If you are an android user you must have come across this type of notification at least once or twice. The message goes something like this.

“Restricted access changed. Data services blocked”

OR

“Restricted access changed. Voice services blocked”

OR

“Restricted access changed. Emergency services blocked”

So, if you are facing this type of notification message you probably must be thinking that it is an error message or something has gone wrong with your operating system.

Relax, there’s nothing wrong with your Android instead it’s just a normal alert from the system which occurs due to the low signal on your network or coverage issues or maybe wrong network/data settings.

Here are some simple steps you can take to deal with this type of notification.

Table of Contents

  • Restart your phone.
  • Reset Network Settings
  • Block Notifications Using Third-party App

Restart your phone.

In many cases, this notification goes away just by restarting your phone because it mainly occurs due to network issues and when the phone restarts it trie to find the network again and connects with network properly.

Although it may not be so easy always. If this works for you then good or continue with the steps given below.

Reset Network Settings

Now, because this notification message pops-up because your phone is having difficulty connecting to your network or your Wifi, maybe resetting your network configurations and adding them again will help you.

Steps to reset network of your android smartphone.

NOTE: All your passwords of saved Wifi networks and Bluetooth devices and your SIM card information will be wiped out and you will have to enter it manually again after resetting it.

  • Open Settings of your android phone and go to System.
  • Now in system tab Click on Reset Options.
  • Now Click on Wifi, Mobile & Bluetooth. It will take some time.

After this, wait for sometime and restart your phone. Hopefully, the notification message will not come up now and if you were having any network issues that will also be taken care of.

Block Notifications Using Third-party App

This method can be used if your phone is showing you that notification constantly even when you have strong network coverage and also you have tried every method to stop this notification message.

Using third-party applications from Google play store is not the only options. Nowadays almost every operating system above 5.1 has an inbuilt feature to stop notification messages from a particular app and also prevent the notification light to light up.

There can be some UI’s which don’t allow access to the notification panel of the phone app as it is an integrated app preinstalled from the manufacturer.

So, in that case, you can use any third party notification blocker from Google play store. Here are some notification blocker apps and their links.

  • Notification Blocker & Cleaner & Heads-up Off
  • Notification blocker & notification history

Hope this will help you get rid of that notification message.
